Gurine Nilsen (1896 - 1976)
Gurine Nilsen was an immigrant from Norway who lived in Galveston, TX and Clifton, TX before moving back to Norway. While in Clifton, she painted a series of wildflower paintings in watercolor. She has also painted the Norwegian trunks in the museum with Rosemaling.
Her wildflower paintings are currently displayed in the Cleng Peerson Research Library of the Jacob Olson Annex Building.
Many of her paintings also include oleander from her time in Galveston.
The museum also sells notecards in the gift shop with images of her paintings.
