July 27, 2017

The Bosque Museum is currently exhibiting its World War One collection to memorialize the actions of those hometown boys who fought as well as those sacrificing on the “Home Front.” Included in the exhibit are:

• original uniforms of veterans, Edwin Larson and J. M. Jorgenson,

• medals earned in warfare, guns used in Europe,

• a series of 14 original recruiting and home front posters,

• music of the WWI era,

• poetry as literature of WWI,

• photos from the Clifton Train Depot send-off of 95 draftees on September 17, 1917 (noted to be the largest gathering of people in Clifton at the time),

• a trunk with many garments worn during WWI,

• and original accounts of Bosque County recruits 1917-1918 training at Ft.

Travis, TX.

A special letter from a Bosque County Soldier who served in the trenches and a

woman’s suit from the era are on loan to be included in this exhibit. The museum

has also created a “Make & Take” activity table for children and a digital interactive

featuring selected documentary films.

All are invited to view the collection on display through the fall. The exhibit will be open during normal museum hours.
