An aerial view of the location of the Horn Shelter taken by Milton Fontenot in 1988. This photograph was taken looking south, toward the bend in the river. The rock formation of the Horn Shelter and a smaller limestone formation on the other side of the river formed a natural funnel which caused flood waters to enter the shelter.

This photo, shot on January 27, 1988, shows the rock overhang above the digs. There apparently was a cave and has been filled in by the river. The shelter faces toward the east.

Robert Forrester returns with an empty wheel barrel after removing debris from the dig site through a pathway dug from over 20 feet of flood deposits. Forrester was one of the lay archeologists that assisted Albert Redder and Frank Watt during the three decades of their work.
